Passing of The USA PATRIOTS Act

On October 25, 2001 the PATRIOTS Act passed through the senate with 98 votes yes and only 1 no on the first vote. The high number of votes for yes can be traced to the fear that there was going to be another terrorist attack. Bush implied that if they voted no and there was an attack they would be held responsible Bush was using everyone's fear to his advantage.

On the 2nd voting of the patriots act (March 2, 2006) the votes on the PATRIOTS act stood at 89 Yes's and 10 No's.

America Post 9/11 was in a state of fear. Many racist crimes occurred due to stereotyping on middle eastern people. People didn't target terrorists they targeted people from those countries and those with different religions
